My name is Elizabeth and I'm new to coding.
This is a site I made from scratch using HTML (and now CSS!) to demonstrate my current proficiency skill with these coding languages.
A Little About My Journey
I began studying HTML on Wednesday, the 31st of May, 2023.
In particular, I studied a video here but I also looked up many resources such as W3Schools and even a little of the slightly more advanced stuff at MDN Web Docs, which really helped a lot!
I haven't really done any CSS stuff yet, or JavaScript or Python, but I plan to move on to each in turn after I'm satisfied with my HTML skills and knowledge. The state of this site reflects my skills as they are on Friday, the 2nd of June.
Not bad after just a couple of days, right? It's actually only barely over 25 hours as I write this! I started at 11:30-ish on Wednesday night and it's now about 1am Friday morning!
This career was actually recommended to me by someone already in the field. He knows me very well and thought this would be a good fit. I'm not very confident yet but I only just started and I hope this type of work can really help me support my mother and my cat.
Update: Just throwing a little update in here. It's now the morning of Sunday, the 4th of June and I've had some time off but also studied some more HTML and some CSS at last! Now everything looks a little prettier and I've added a whole bunch of stuff to my Skills page so do go check that out! I must admit I'm not as confident with my CSS stuff though. I keep having to check my notes and can't remember it half as well as the HTML stuff.
